Getting WHS to put client back into hibernation after backup RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am baffled by my WHS backup program. I have WHS backup my desktop between midnight and 6 am. The client is in hiberation and WHS wakes it up and backs up the client fine. The problem is that it doesn't put the client back into hibernation when it is done backing it up. It has done so in the past with the XP operating system. Now that I have upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium it has chosen not to do it. My problem is that I can't seem to find any way to troubleshoot the problem. I have WHS with the new beta SP1 installed and everything else seems to work just fine but this one has stumped me. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

  • Windows 7 has a command line tool, powercfg, which will allow you to do some troubleshooting. In general, Windows Home Server simply relies on the operating system's support for sleeping after a backup, so anything that might prevent the computer from going to sleep automatically is suspect.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
