  • Whether or not you show up with MVP affiliation is dependent on whether or not you are using the same liveid log in the MVP program has on record as identifying you as an MVP. Are you sure you are using the same live id log in you use when accesssing other microsoft mvp online sites?

  • Would it be possible for you to tell me the URL of the location that you usually go to when validating your mvp credentials? And also, does the http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/ site properly detect and show your status? Thanks for your help on this.

I login with success as MVP here: https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/Vincenzo and here http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/.
The http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/ site doesn't properly detect and show my MVP status.
    Thank you, Brent.

  • Hi Brent,
my MVP status is recognized even on http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx where I have automatically MVP logo in my posts when I login with my Live ID.
Even in my case, http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/ don't recognize my MVP status.
    Bye.

As a 'colateral damage' the MVP status in current msdn forums was hided for MVP's members who have loging in this 'demo' site.

    one example :

my friend Toni Recio is an MVP and before this week his post always were showed with the MVP label, but he doesn't appear with the MVP label after he use this forum in first time.

"MVP" shows for me... Are you a member of the regular forums? Does it show there, if so? Did you register a different account for these forums, one that is not tied to your Live ID that you use for the MVP site?

I'm not a member of the regular forums and it is the same Live ID I use to manage the content of the MVP site.

I do see the [MVP] tag for you and Vincenzo now, but not mine.

I think that Vincenzo has manually added [MVP] tag in his "Display name".

  • This issue was caused in mid-February and has since been resolved by re-building an xml file that contained all of the MVP names. This file should be updated on a daily basis, and has not failed again so far. If it had, Phil's, Peter's, and Vero's designations would not be visible on this thread.

When I go to the old forums and look at a message Peter posted I can see his designation there as well. Both versions of forums use the same file, so if it fails, it fails for both apps. At present, it appears to be working for those who are using the same Live ID they use to manage their MVP data.

For those who are certain you are using the same Live ID here that you use to manage your MVP data, I have a few questions for troubleshooting:
    1. Are you using the same username? I am not familiar with the sign-in process for MVP, but if you use a different display name, it is possible that you are not being recognized. I noted that Vincenzo is using "Vincenzo" for MVP, but using your full name with [MVP] here. So - the same Live ID, but a diferent user name. Is this the case with others who are not seeing your designation?
    2. Have you recently updated any of your data? If you updated anything since the end of February and we do not have updated data, that would be a bug, and we will need to investigate.
    3. When was the last time you actually saw the MVP status visible on the old forums site?

    Hi Pam,
I have manually added "MVP" to my nickname in this TechNet forum.
I login with success as MVP in all the MVP sites and in this forum I have used the same combo Userid/Password.
    Thank you.

    Hi Pam,
here I have added manually "MVP" because i was not recognized automatically as an MVP :-( .
The display name in TechNet Forums is "Vincenzo Di Russo" ("MVP", in blue, was added automatically by the forum server after I logged in):
    http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2843264&SiteID=17
I was not subscribed to the old forums.
In the Microsoft Newsgroups if I login with my MVP credentials I'm recognized as an MVP:
    http://www.microsoft.com/italy/communities/newsgroups/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.it.internet_explorer&mid=99643181-0ddf-4706-91d1-58c0e25af34c&p=1
    Thank you.

  • Hi Vincenzo,

Have you tried removing the [MVP] from your profile name here to see if that resolves the issue? If it doesn't, you can always add it back.

Removed the "[MVP]" tag I manually added. Still no joy, Pam (as you see).
Please, check your xml file that contains all of the MVP names.
