  • Hi Repelex,

"If I were to re-install, would I lose all my data?" "And how would I go about re-installing?"

These are difficult questions to answer without knowing where you received your copy of Vista.

    a) If Vista came Preinstalled on your computer, you would need to use the Windows Restore CD (or Windows Restore partition on the computer's hard drive) to revert your copy of Vista back to how it was straight from the factory.  And Yes, in this case, you would loss all your Data.  If you need help using the Windows Restore process, contact computer manufacture's support.

    b) If you bought Vista seperate from the computer (i.e. Vista came in a box from a retail store) you could reinstall Vista (using the DVDs that came in the retail box) "on top" of the old Vista. This would fix any corrupt/missing windows files, but would not delete your data (although we HIGHLY recommend backing up your data in case something unexpected happens). If you need help reinstalling Vista retail, contact Microsoft support at http://support.microsoft.com
