Problem submitting sitemaps

Question
-
I have verified my sites and submitted the sitemaps with the webmaster tools.
The bot tries to get my sitemaps but the http status codes in log file are sc-status=200 and sc-win32-status=64.
One of the sitemap urls is : www.readyflowers.com.sg/sitemap.xml
I tried using gzip but I got the same error. I would prefer to use gzip because some of the sitemaps are large (>2MB) but I get the same error www.readyflowers.com.sg/sitemap.sg.xml.gz
Any ideas?

Hi,
I'm going to take this offline with you. I will post back to this thread for others' information if we find any issues.

ReadyFlowers,
After reviewing some IIS documentation, the status codes you sent look like a network timeout issue when we try to grab the files. Have you tried submiting your sitemap to our ping service? I tried and it looked like the service grabbed the file successesfully. You can use the ping service at:
http://webmaster.live-int.com/webmaster/ping.aspx?siteMap=[mysitename]
Can you confrim it was grabbed?
Let us know and we will see if we can work out what the issue is.

Its actually worse than I thought. It looks like the bot is getting the same error for all pages except for requests to LiveSearchSiteAuth.xml

Ok, so maybe this is just a coincidence but the old bot can download pages.
msnbot-media/1.0+(+http://search.msn.com/msnbot.htm)
It is using HTTP/1.0 so it would not be getting gzipped pages from my site but the new bot which is HTTP/1.1 is.
SO...does this mean that EVEN though M$ say that their new great shiney bot supports gzipped pages it REALLY doesn't?!?
Great support by the way microsoft! Really appreciate the help.</sarcasm>

Hi,
Sorry I missed your post. However, reviewing sitemaps.org, there is no reference to supporting gzipped pages. Can you provide me with a link to an article that states we do support gzipped pages and I will check it out?
Thanks,
Brett

Have a look here
The new bot can get the LiveSearchSiteAuth.xml file which is not compressed
But not the site map which is

This is a summary of requests for one day by your bot for the sitemap
Hits Version UserAgenet Status Win32Status BytesSent 4 HTTP/1.1 msnbot-webmaster/1.0+(+http://search.msn.com/msnbot.htm) 200 64 0 Friday, August 29, 2008 8:41 AM -
Thanks! I missed the compression bit somehow (not sure how since it was like the first paragragh...still...) I'll take this up with the team and let you know as soon as I have an answer for you.Monday, September 15, 2008 10:07 PM

Thanks Brett. I have changed the config on my webserver so that the xml files are not compressed but it did not make any difference. One more weird thing to add to the mix too. I have some other sites that the sitemap is 0kb and the bot can download them fine no win32status error 64 for them.I have a ticket# SRX1077359179ID if you want to follow it upWednesday, September 17, 2008 5:32 AM

Hi,
I've talked with our devs. They have said they couldn't repro the issue. If you can give us some repro steps, I will be happy to take it back to the devs.

I know they look like network timeout issues, but "other" search engine bots have no problems downloading. In fact it seems that it is only your supposedly http1.1 compliant bot that has this problem, your http1.0 bot downloads fine. Explain that with a network timeout issue!
