Exception while connecting to the head node RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all,

We are using Windows HPC 2016 in our project. We are using developers laptops (workstations) as computational nodes. However, while connecting these nodes to the head node we are getting following exception:

"Unable to connect to the head node"

"The connection to the management service failed. detail error:

System.InsufficientMemoryException: Insufficient winsock resources available to complete the socket connection initiation. --> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked...."

    What could cause this issue?

our HPC head node configuration is 4 cores, 16GB, and Windows 2016.

  • Hi Puneet,

Are you using HPC Pack 2016 RTM (5.0.5826.0)? If yes, this is a known issue. Please upgrade to HPC Pack 2016 Update 1 and check if it still persists.

How to migrate to HPC Pack 2016 Update 1 please see this doc. You can download HPC Pack 2016 Update 1 here.

    Thanks,
    Zihao
