Cannot sign in with Office Communicator 2005 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I have setup a LCS Server Standard Edition 2005 in a child domain "abcd_nt_domain.forest-domain.local".

The LCS users are hosted also in this child domain "abcd_nt_domain.forest-domain.local".

In this scenario, I were able to sign-in successfully withOC 2005 client.

Since I had moved the LCS Server Standard Edition 2005 into another child domain "abcd-domain.forest-domain.local", I had never been able to sign-in with OC 2005 and I always get the following message:

"Cannot sign in to Communications Service. You may have entered your sign-in name, username, or password incorrectly, or the autentification service may be incompatible with this version of the program"

    - LCS User is in child domain "abcd_nt_domain.forest-domain.local"

    - LCS Server is in child domain "abcd-domain.forest-domain.local"

LCS User lcs-user1 is in child domain "abcd_nt_domain.forest-domain.local".

LCS User lcs-user1 has following SIP address: lcs-user1@company.local

When sign-in, I use the follwoing info in OC 2005 "Sign-In Account" dialog box:

    Account: lcs-user1@company.local

    Username: abcd_nt_domain\lcs-user1

Is this due to the multiple domain topology ?

I mean the fact that user lcs-user1 is in a different child domain that the LCS Server.

Is the "_" underscore character could be the root cause ?

Or is there any other known root cause ?

Thanks very much for any help.

  • Was the new child-domain were the server was moved ever prepped during the original installation?

The underscore is a legal (although undesirable) character.
