  • Chris,

You could try DAEMON Tools. I have used it to mount ISO volumes that reside on a WHS share. Just install it on your Desktop PC. As far as I know there is no software supporting or integrating with WHS.

BTW: I know DAEMON Tools installs on WHS. From RDP you can manually mount an ISO volume and share the mounted drive for 'Everyone' to access it. But I would strongly advise against installing these kind of applications on WHS as it is not supported and I am unsure on the possible side-effects a tool like this might have on the operation of your Windows Home server.

  • There is a complete list of iso software :http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ISO_image_software ,
All will mount images, I am not sure if any will auto update.

Ben - sorry, the above link has an extra http, won't edit.

  • I'm not clear why you want to mount .iso files on your server; an image mounted there is only accessible on your server, with no supported way to get at it from other PCs on your network. But as Theo has pointed out, at least Daemon Tools will install.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • If it appears as a virtual drive, you can make it a network share. Then the data from those ISOs can be retrieved as usual.
It doesn't make sense to make a bunch of ISOs, but if you had data in this format already, there should be nothing stopping you from using Daemon Tools

  • Farstone Virtual drive will allow you to mount multiple iso images. It can also maintain a library of them with comments and descriptions. I believe you can mount as many as you have drive letters available. Would not recommend running this on the WHS though I have done it on a client using the ISO's off of a share.

If you are doing this for games etc running it off a client is the only way it will work properly. If for movies/DVDs I would mount each DVD individually and then copy the VIDEO_TS folder to a WHS share. Then install the my movies add on to Windows Media Center. It will automatically catalog your movies and automatically find and play them from any client PC that has Windows Media Center. ie Windows Vista Home premium or Ultimate.
