During the final stages of deploying OCS 2007 I used the LCSaddcontacts script to add contacts into specific groups. Since then I have had to rename one of the group names. I have successfully removed all users from the old group and added the users to the new group. However all users now have an empty "group" in Communicator 2007.
Is there a way with LCSaddcontacts or another tool to remove entire groups from the list in Communicator?
I'm having the same problem. There is no problem adding / removing contacts from / within any groups but to remove / delete the group name itself is a problem.
To me, it looks like lcsaddcontacts is not written to do this so another tool would be needed.
I decided to go around this problem.... deleted all ocs users (getting rid of all groups and contacts) and re-enabled them. Then ran the script that created all groups/contacts according to AD. Worked fine for this project which was based on a single AD domain with no federation or public IM.
You may use (OCSCM) Microsoft Office Communications Server Contact Manager. It's an administration mmc tool that will integrate with Microsoft Office Communication Server 2007 and Active Directory to provide an easy way to provision OCS users’ contacts list. OCSCM is designed to show you how to manage the contacts and groups for individual ocs users by interacting with the Active Directory Domain Services and Microsoft Office Communication Server 2007/R2 and lcs 2005.
