Business rules to hide fields are hidding fields that are not part of the rule RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dynamics 2013, Update 2 and on premise

I have a form with 3 fields on it.  One is a text field and visible by default.  The other two fields are not visible. When I place data in text field I have rules to expose the other two fields and another rule to hide those two fields when there is no data in the text field.

These 3 fields sit on a section that is hidden when the page loads.  When that section is made visible, all 3 fields are hidden.  There's no logic in the rules to hide the text field, only the two child fields.

If I deactivate the business rules to HIDE fields.  The load performs as expected and the text field is visible.

If I keep the HIDE business rule active but make the section the fields are on visible by default, the load performs as expected and the text field is visible.

The business rule is overriding the hide or make visible logic of the section settings.

Is this by design or a bug?

  • I was only able to resolve this only by making everything visible to start with and the on load the business rules would hide fields.  From what I see you always have make things visible then hide them on load.

  • check your logic with the section alone, leaving the fields all visible by default. It sounds like the problem is with the section hide/show. Once you fix the section, then move on to the fields.

Also, make sure the section name is different than the fields.
