  • I am having the EXACT problem as described in this post.

"How to update Realtec NIC drivers during a WHS Bare Metal Restore"

The symptoms are 100% accurate.  Unfortunately the links to the Realtek NIC drivers are no longer working.  I spent 4 hours scouring the net, and downloading various drivers, with absolutely no luck.  I found ones from other websites that said they were going to work but they did not.  I should have realized that I can just buy a NIC at the store tomorrow and worry with it then.  Does anyone have any other idea on where to find them?  I think I shall email Realtek also.

  • Hi Heinrich,

Ran into the same problem tonight. Network was not working even when using the drivers from the backup on WHS. I actually went back to the manufacturer website (in my case HP, computer is Pavilion dv5t-1000  ) and downloaded the realtek drivers there. I installed on my desktop machine and copied the drivers (2 directories, one 32 bit and one 64 bit) on a USB Key. **I Did not have the Home Server Drivers** backup on that key, just the realtek.

Went back and executed the procedure and the system got the new drivers and the network adapter light turned back on and I am as we speak pursuing with the restore.

Hope you can find the right driver for your PC.

    Sincerely,

    Frederic

  • I'm using plenty of Realtek NICs myself. What realtek chip are you using? The link posted by Lara is correct, but you need to specify what drivers to download.

If it's something new built in on a mother boards, it's most likely a gigabit card, so select that one. After this, select if it's a PCI or PCI Expess. (If integrated in your mobo, and the mobo has PCIe, then it's most likely a PCI Express chip)
Dowload the WinXP and WinServer 2003 Driver
