Upgrade route to Vail RRS feed

  • Question

  • So last tuesday I bought and installed a copy of WHS after my trial expired.  You can imagine my reaction and expletives at seeing the Vail announcement today. :-X

Will there be a free upgrade for those of us who recently bought WHS and have proof of purchase, in the same way as there was between Vista and Win7?

Edit: if not, this will be the last piece of software I buy from Microsoft.  I'm so angry :-x

  • I doubt that there will be a "free" upgrade. Note that this is a "preview", or early beta, of Vail. Looking at the timeline for V1 you can expect that the final version won't RTM for at least 6 months and probably longer (V1 was 8.5 months from public beta to RTM). But I don't have a timeline for Vail in front of me to say for sure, only Microsoft has that.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
