Enabling users with "Use users's e-mail address" fails. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

I'm trying to set up ofc user login with SIP URI in the e-mail form of <loginname>@mydomain.net which every user has set for them.

The wizard runs fine but when I start the Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 program and browse to see the users, selecting the user gives "The domain this user was assigned is no longer valid. Please select a new one."

I can create logins with the domainname the users are created to which is mydomain.local but then the SIP URI is going to be <loginname>@mydomain.local which is not something I want to use.

How do I enable the mydomain.net so I can use it for the SIP URIs? I already created sip.domain.net and sipinternal.domain.net A records that point to the OFC server IP.

I'm thankful for any help you are able to provide.

  •   When u r giving ur mail id as SIP uri, check that the email property for the user (in AD)is fill and not empty.

  • I checked this at first and the wizard creates the URI correctly from the AD information. But for some reason OFC does not approve the mydomain.net suffix, only the mydomain.local

as in: my.name@mydomain.local works as SIP URI but my.name@mydomain.net gives error when selecting that user from OFC tool.

  • Open the OCS admin tool.  Right click the forest and select Global Properties.  The first tab that appears will show you the configured SIP domains in your environment.  By default only your forest's domain name is there.  Add your SMTP domain name and any others that you need.  Once that change is saved and replicated you will be able to use that domain for user's SIP addresses.
