I just had that same thing happen, using Vista+IE8. Here's a screenshot.
I don't think IRW7 is going to reply to us. He can't. : P

If you consider closing the tab, reopening the thread, and retyping the reply a workaround, then yes. That is my claim to fame workaround. Is that on TechNet forums too? I didn't realize that the Stack Overflow would occur for a reply there too. I thought it was just getting the TechNet Home Page?
Testing from IE8 on XPsp3 VM. What will Submit do?...

Edit: It worked. So is the problem being reported only on TechNet forums?- Edited by Robert Aldwinckle on forums Saturday, October 6, 2012 3:28 PM Clarifying symptom description.

This is a reply, not a Quoted Reply. Perhaps it specifically Reply that is the problem?
Still posting with IE8 on XPsp3 VM. (Ctrl-a, Ctrl-c done JIC)
Edit: Just noted that my URL is with MSDN. I will try a different "brand".- Edited by Robert Aldwinckle on forums Saturday, October 6, 2012 3:34 PM Clarifying symptom

Perfect. TechNet Sandbox doesn't use new TechNet branding? This forum doesn't use TechNet branding even though now URL refers to TechNet. So where can I go and test TechNet branding? Is there any other branding which has this problem symptom?
BTW I just inserted those TechNet links and now I'm not so sure that I am not seeing TechNet branding. If so, what should I do to try to see the problem symptom? FWIW I also tried using the Microsoft comsandbox. I had originally started out on the MSDN reportabug view of this thread.
BTW Justin, I think I may have just had an instance of selected text getting lost doing my last URL insertion. E.g. I had Microsoft comsandobx highlighted and did Ctrl-k as usual but when I came back after the insertion the comsandbox was gone, only Microsoft had been kept as the link label. Unfortunately I wasn't paying enough attention while the Ctrl-k was up originally to know when the deletion occurred.
