CRM 2013 - Change button labels in the Outlook plug-in?

Question

From here: https://connect.microsoft.com/dynamicssuggestions/feedback/details/806910/ability-to-rename-the-sales-literature-button-in-outlook
"Sales Literature isn't just for the Sales Department. For example, General Service Agreement Contract documents (managed by the Legal Department) could be sent by a Project Manager (Service Department) to a Contact.
Calling that repository "Sales Literature" is too restrictive."Can changes to entity names in CRM really not flow to the plug-in? Why?

Oh, you are talking about the CRM Outlook Client add-on. I just tested changing the name and synchronized my CRM Outlook Client and I see the new name in Outlook. You will also need to change each of the View names as those will show anything set when originally created.

One can change the name of the entity from Sales Literature to General Documents, Documents, Literature or whatever name one wants to call it. It is simply a display name change.
I'm not sure I understand your question but it seems like you are asking to send the display name to a plug-in? You shouldn't need to deal with a display name in your plug-in. You can just use the schema name.

I'm not talking about a plug-in I wrote. I'm talking about the CRM for Outlook plug-in by Microsoft.
I know how to change the name of Sales Literature. My frustration is that the change I make doesn't flow to the ^Outlook client. The button in the Ribbon in Outlook still says "Sales Literature". Does that make sense?
Most users prefer the Outlook plug-in than the browser; so my change in the browser doesn't help if it doesn't flow to the plug-in (where they 'live').

Ah, so synchronizing is the trick. I expected it to push from the browser to the end-user clients as soon as I clicked publish. Thanks!Thursday, January 23, 2014 7:54 PM
