CRM 2015 - You must enter a valid Email address RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I had a strange issue today, some of the Account records are imported to CRM with an invalid email address ex: "test", when i am trying to update the email address for these accounts with a valid email address(ex:jeevan@test.com) on the account screen, CRM is stopping me with a client side validation saying you must enter a valid email address even though i have entered a valid email address.

I can update them through an on demand workflow, but trying to understand, is this a known issue?

  • Hi,

AFAIK there are no out of the box email address verification in CRM and considering that the workflow is able to update the email address I'd say that the validation is done on the form with scripts. Are there any onchange/onsave scripts activated for the account form?

    Regards

  • No, i don't have any custom script validation, but there is a validation out of the box which expects email address to be like "any text@any text" which is what is stopping me now even though i have entered in the right format, after i update the record in the background from a workflow with some valid email address, i am able to edit the email address from UI.

  • Yes, I know about the, well pretty much "@" validation, but since you were having issues where something that was within that check it would seem that there was Another validation present and since it was working with a wf it wasn't a plugin :)

Nice that you got it resolved.
