Hi all, we believe the issue has been corrected so alerts shouldbe working and you should no longer receive an error message when submitting a reply.

Hi Vikas-
The only time I had this problem was when I did not have my alerts set up correctly. Have you gone to http://alerts.live.com/Alerts/UserHome.aspx?lc=1033&rpsm=1 to verify that your alerts are set up correctly?
Let us know if that resolves the issue.
Thanks!

Hi Alicia,
Thanks for the reply. I got the email alert for your reply so is it that i get alert only for threads which i have started. I haven't changed anything in setup.
Also i have two issues with the content of alert mail.
Here is the content which i received :
------------------------------------------------------
Another user, Alicia-STO, has replied to a forums thread you have subscribed to!
Thread Title alerts not working for me
Started by: Alicia-STO
The Microsoft Developer Network
-------------------------------------------------------
1. It says thread 'started by' Alicia which i think is wrong.
2. Alerts from original forums.microsoft.com contain the actual reply and so user does not need to go to website to check the details but alert from msdn forum does not contain actual reply. It should i believe.
Pls let me know if my observations are correct.
Thanks

Does any know the email address of the notification email when a thread is updated. I always mark my threads to alert me and I never seem to get an alert. I want to check to see if the email address is in my spam list. I searched through my spam list and I don't think I see anything from Microsoft. Maybe this feature of the forum just doesn't work.
Thanks.

mscommpl @ microsoft.com should be the "from email" address of the notification.
P.S. remove spaces before and after @ in the email address.

Hi All,
Mail alert is not working for me in this forum (i.e whenever a thread gets a reply I'm not getting the alert mail). It's working well and good in the old forum. Can some one let me know how to correct this?
On Each reply I've Selected the Alert Me checkbox and this option is set default in my profile settings.- Edited by VidhyaSagar Tuesday, August 19, 2008 4:09 PM Update

Right, OK, that makes sense.
Some of the forums (like this one) are shared across multiple sites (MSDN, Technet, etc...). We found a glitch in the alert code that would affect subscriptions to these shared forums, but not forums that only exist in one brand (like .Net setup).
I'd be interested in hearing from others to see which forums that they're seeing this issue with.
Thanks
Matt

I'm having problems as well in the C# IDE and General forums. The odd thing is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. For example someone posted a response on Tuesday and I didn't get an e-mail. They followed up today and I did. I also didn't get all the alerts from the postings I made yesterday.
It seems to have just started in the last week from what I can tell. Might be coincidence.

Every time I post to this forum (mostly Sharepoint Products and Technologies), I click the "Alert Me" check box. However, I've never received an alert of any kind, even though people have been responding to my posts. How do I fix this? Does someone need to fix it for me?
Thanks,
Shane.- Merged by Mike Walsh FIN Friday, September 19, 2008 5:26 AM same subject

Same problem here, would like to know if there is an answer/fix. I've checked my Windows Live alert settings twice and they seem to be correct. The only thing that I can add is that like Vikas, it seems like I'm not getting alerts for threads I've started myself...at least that's how it seems right now...
Thanks,

I've gone to:
http://alerts.live.com/
and now I'm receiving some alerts, but not all alerts.
Weird.

Hi,
I've checked out my settings in the Alert web site and they look fine. I have posted in this forum and in the Composer forum. I don't get alerts from either place. Further, when I click the "Alert Me" check box on a reply I get an error message when I submit the posting. Hope this helps!

well. I have problems with alerts on SharePoint forums either.
It works fine for MSDN forums, and I subscribed to MSDN in alerts.live.com
But I can't find the way how to subscribe to social.technet.microsoft.com alerts?! Even I have auto "Alert Me" checked on each post I receive nothing. NOTING at all.
Any workaround for this?!
I lot of people are missing my replies, because I can't track what they asked in theads where I participate- Edited by Michael Nemtsev [MSFT] Saturday, October 4, 2008 1:29 PM

it works in anothers, which have official record in alert.live.com, like MSDN forums, but doesn't work for social.* stuff.
Actually there are no allerts for social to subscribe on
