Selective SSL/HTTP switching? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We use CRM in a production datacenter, being accessed from the HQ via IFD/SSL.  Performance is not great.  It feels much snappier when on a local box, even via Remote Desktop, which makes little sense.  So, I setup a VPN.  The issue is that I'd still like people coming in over public IPs to have to use SSL, but those coming from the VPN should not have to.  Is this possible with CRM?  (I'm guessing no) Could I employ some sort of simple IIS filter that swapped out http/https depending on the source IP?

  • Just did a quick test , and was prompted for a login. Everything looked normal.

  • Alternatively, could I setup two front end servers on the box, one via SSL and one not?

  • you can have the vpn uses connect via non IFD (http://server/org) ,internet user connect via IFD (https://org.domain.tld) on the same box.

add the vpn ip range to your ifdinternalnetworkaddress.

  • the VPN users are on machines that are not part of the domain, so doesn't that kill integrated logon from IE?
