Just turn on my laptop and the Windows Activation Technologies pop-out again. Now, there have 2 BAR file in the SoftwareProtectionPlatform folder called tokens.bar and tokens.bar2. So what's next I should do since the error is still there?

The only real options now are either  a reinstall, or a system restore back to before the problem existed. The one other potential cure is to use the System Recovery option to restore your PC to it's original ex-factory state, and start again.

Your problem originates from the Tampered file above - since it doesn't appear in the File Scan Data section, it's probably due to errors in the registry.

Have you used a registry cleaner/optimiser??
If so, which one? UNDO any changes it's made - and then uninstall it. Reboot, and then run another MGADiag report and post the result.

The best route would normally be a System Restore back to a time before the problem surfaced - but you say that this has been happening for a few weeks now, so it may no longer be advisable.

Try this  - it shouldn't hurt, and may help.
    Recreate the Licensing Store
        1) Click Start button.
        2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field
        3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
        4) Type: net stop sppsvc   (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
Note: the Software Protection service may not be running, this is ok.
        5) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
        6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
        7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
        8) Type: net start sppsvc
        9) Type: slui.exe
        10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically.

Run MGADiag again, and post the report

  • I failed to do the number 6 command and came out a message, "A duplicate file name exists, or the file cannot be found." once I've type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar

Okay, so i just ignore this and continue with the following commands (Actually I've tried this method from other thread you given but the error message still prompted out)

At the end, the activation was successful but the result still remain the same.

The problem with your attempt at operation #6 is that you (or someone) have done it before - change the target filename from tokens.bar to tokens.bar2 and see if that works - you will need to repeat the whole procedure

  • Hi Noel Paton,

I've done what you've taught but now I'm failed to copy the report, "Failed to create output files, hr = 0x80070002. Please contact support."

I checked the report, appear a new tab called, Licensing. I guess should be no problem. Between, is it we rename the tokens.dat to tokens.bar? What's the purpose on changing name for this?

    Thanks.

Ignore the error message -it simply means that the program couldn't save the log files to disk for some reason.
click on the Copy button-ignore the error- paste into your response.
What's happened is that the target file (tokens.bar) already exists - so you need to change the name of the file that you're moving to something else (or delete the existing tokens.bar file)

  • Yeah, I also think of reinstall it and this is the only way i can do because I never build a disc for system restore.

    Anyway, thanks.

System Restore is an integral part of Windows - not something you create disks for.

    Click on Start
    in the Search box, type
    System Restore
    hit the Enter key
    follow the instructions

I supposed to say I need to create a restore point or else, I could not restore it to the clean state.

System Recovery reinstalls the system clean - see your manual for how to initiate one.

System Restore will only go back as far as you tell it to - assuming you already have SR points created. If not then you can't use it. The system is supposed to create System Restore points automatically on a regular basis, and whenever Windows Updates and some other programs are installed.

  • Just noticed it when Windows Updates and some other programs are installed, System Restore point is automatically created. Thanks.
