Hi
I am not too sure where you saw this but I dont see that those exams are retiring (http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/exam-dev.aspx#tab4). They just retired the .NET 2.0 exams which are based on the VS2005 toolset so you have a bit of time yet.
Once an exam and certification retires, you still keep it but it is not possible to take the exams and they go into the reired section of your transcript IIRC
Can you post a link of where you saw the certification was retiring?

Hi,
As far as I know these exams are not going to retire till June 2012. You can also check the details of the Microsoft exam going to be retired by the following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/exam-dev.aspx#tab4
If you have passed these exams, it does not means that your certification will not be valid. Certification never retires and never lose its validity. However, the candidates can't achieve the certification when a exam is retired required for the certification.
It may be possible that Microsoft will introduce some new exams on latest version of the technology, so you can take those exams to enhance your skills with that technology...
Thanks!
