Laptop turning off before battery is empty

  Hello,

  Ok so I'm having trouble with my battery life.  My HP laptop will turn off suddenly (not "shut down") with out low-battery notification (20%) when my battery life is anywhere between 25-40%.  I know this is not due to overheating! I have tested my battery using the HP Support Assistant and it says my battery is "OK".  If my battery were starting to go bad and losing its charge wouldn't my computer still go through the low/critical battery actions, this would just happen with less and less time?  I have also re-installed the HP power management software.  Please help!
