Duplicate Detection Rule On Two Fields RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello.

I have to do a duplication rule on Customer on three fields. I did it, but the problem is that, the three fields are connected with "OR", and I want to do it with "And"...So if I have two Customers with same names, and e-mails, but different phones (for example), the CRM must tell me that they can not exist. Now the duplication rule see that the phone is different and passes through the record. If someone has solution or idea, please tell me. Thank you.

  • For your AND add a new field to your entity that has a concatenation of the AND values, you will need to populate this field with Javascript on the form and ideally hide it from the user (hidden tab perhaps).  You can then use this as your duplicate detection field.   You may also want to populate your new AND field with workflow to handle changes outside of the form (API, Bulk Edit, etc)

  • Try build a set of rules that in effect become additive.

  •    Can you explain how to build these set of rules.. Because I have tried the both types of solution that I come up with... To build 3 rules for every column that I want to be Unique, and one rule with the 3 columns  together..Both failed.

  • I've read several articles on Duplicate Detection and I think your experience is the way the application behaves today.   I don't think you'll be able to create 'and' conditions to check for multiple criteria on a single entity.  You can search Microsoft Connect to see if a suggestion for this is already posted and vote for that suggestion or create a new suggestion for this change.

If someone has different information, please correct this post.  Thank you
