  • Question

  • Hello,

When I'm trying to install setup failed during download with HRESULT '-2146697211'

I want to use web intaller to limit size of install files.

If someone have a solution for that ?

    Thanks in advance

  • Limit the size of the framework on a download? I don't think that's viable.

Myself, I would have the client at the client machine install the needed framework his or herself. The program would inform the client that the needed framework is not on the machine and terminate the program.

  • Thanks for your answer
I just want that my installer go to download the framework on the web  and not have it with setup files.

My problem is not to choose the method but to resolve my error during installation.
I already add framework in prerecquies and choose web solution but I have HRESULT=-2146697211 error.

Well, to be honest about  it, this is the C# forum dealing with C# issues and not the issues you are having with downloading the .NET Framework from a Web site.

IMHO, you should just stop program execution of the program, give the user a message about the download site, have the user download and install the framework.

Just becuase you think you can do something, it doesn't necessarily mean that you should.

  • Hi DREAN,

    Thank you for posting here.

Since this thread is about installing the framework via the web, we will move it to Where is the Forum For…? forum to redirect it to the correct forum.

The Visual C# forum discusses and asks questions about the C# programming language, IDE, libraries, samples, and tools.

    Best Regards,

  • As far as I understand, you have a problem when you install the .net framework. This is not a developer topic, this is a Windows topic.

So you should ask here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_install

  • Thanks for all your answer.
My problem is not to just install framework I can do it manually with no problem.
My problem is to create the installer with visual studio with the framework I think it's a little different.
So it's really a visual studio problem
