No MC ID, Now what !? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I'm MCSE: Security since 2005, i didn't check my MCP profile in last year due to being busy.

Last time i came to login to my MCP profile, i saw it asks for MC ID which i've never taken.

So i used my MCP#. It didn't work.

It says:" To gain access to the member site, you must associate your Microsoft Certification ID (MC ID) with your Microsoft account "

is MC ID different from MCP number? is Microsoft account the same hotmail or windows live account?

What should i do now? i can still can check my profile by clicking on MCP Home link, but i don't want this MC ID step beforeahead.

Thanks i advanced for your help.

  • i did chat with online support and they solved the problem, MC ID is the same MCP# but i needed a new temporary access code which is a  one-time-use code, after i gave my address and they verified me, they gave me, new access code, i entered and everything went well.

  • The MC ID is the same as the MCP number; the "MCP number" was renamed to "MC ID" for marketing reasons, but the number itself is still the same. If your MCP number was 123456, you can still enter 123456 when you are asked for the MC ID.

If your Microsoft Account cannot be used to access a given site and it requests that your MC ID be associated with the account, perhaps you didn't associate it correctly when you got the ID for the first time. You can phone the Regional Service Center, and they should be able to provide a fix.
