SBS 2008 network switched to Hosted Exchange RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have aSBS 2008 network that has just changed their email hosting to hosted exchange.

They client was previously using the Exchange 2007 that was installed on the SBS 2008 server. The accounts have now been migrated to a Cloud hosted exchange. The problem is that Exchange Autodiscover  keeps reconfiguring the Outlook Microsoft Exchange Proxy settings for remote.domain .com every tie Outlook is launched. They also are prompted after the Outlook is reconfigured for the SBS server to enter their domain credentials.

Is there a way to turn off the Autodiscover, or reconfigure it to point to the new cloud host. I cannot keep Outlook clients configured on the local LAN.

  • Followed this advice from another article and it did the trick:

The server's configuration information in AD can be removed using the ADSI Edit console (ADSIEdit.msc). In Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000 Server, this tool is one of the Support Tools, which aren't install by default. In Windows 2008, the ADSI Edit console is installed by default. To remove the configuration information, open the ADSI Edit console, and navigate to:

    Services\Microsoft Exchange\ExchangeOrganizationName\AdministrativeGroups\Exchange Administrative Group\Servers

where ExchangeOrganizationName is the name of your Exchange organization

Just delete the old SBS server subcontainer under servers, as well as the two SBS entries under:

    Services\Microsoft Exchange\ExchangeOrganizationName\AdministrativeGroups\Exchange Administrative Group\Routing Groups\Exchange Routing Groups\Connections
