Can Quicken 2012 import Money Plus Premium? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been a MS Money user for many years.  I can't be sure, but I would say at least 10.  I love it, and honestly hated to see that Microsoft has killed it.

But they did, and that's that.  My MS Money Plus Premium is beginning to complain every time I get into it about needing to extend the services, etc.  My guess is that it is doing that because it's a year since MS Money stopped support, and its just an old message popping up again.  I've tired of what are likely false messages, and so I've decided to get serious about Intuit's Quicken.  I believe a year ago there was some hint about Quicken was able to import MS Money Plus and MS Money Plus Premium files.  Is that true?

  • Yes, Quicken can convert Money Plus and Money 2007, and it will do a very nice job of it. Money must be installed on the computer doing the conversion.

You could consider Money Plus Deluxe Sunset. No nags, but it will not get quotes and direct OFX files on its own. PocketSense can help with that.

  • Hi Cal,

I was hoping you'd see my question and answer it.  You have been a tremendous help to me over the years, with all of the version of MS Money that I've owned.  I really want to thank you so much for your help.  I honestly wish I could meet you in person, to thank you.

Concerning Money Plus Deluxe Sunset; I've never heard of it.  Must be one of Microsoft's best kept secrets.  I've decided to go ahead and get Quicken.  I'm about to install it on my system.  I've already got Money Plus Premium on it, so the importing of data from that, to Quicken should work.  I am assuming that Quicken will just do an import, and leave the Money files alone.  Frankly, if I don't like Quicken, then maybe I'll get that Money Plus Deluxe Sunset.

One more question, my friend, and I hate to ask it, but I'm going to.  Where do I go to get support on Quicken, like I get on this forum?

  • Yes, Quicken will leave your *.mny intact. It does "direct" downloads ways. It for FIs that provide the server, it can do QIF, Quicken's mod of OFX, download. It also can do screen scraping of many FIs by using your login credentials to access your FI's website and interpret the HTML.

See https://qlc.intuit.com/ for their customer forum.
