Use a 'server backup' drive on another PC? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have configured WHS to use a USB drive as a server backup and have done backups to it.

Is it safe to take that drive to another PC and read and write to it (obviously not mucking with the files/folders that WHS has created)?

It's a 1TB drive that I would like to use with Acronis True Image.  (Yes, I'm paranoid about my data.)

  • Yes, the drive acts as a standard NTFS partition. I wouldn't remove the dated folders or the index file, unless you want to destroy your backups :)
