MyWork.aspx view for other resources? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I really like the MyWork.aspx view (Calendar view) which a user has to view his/her tasks. I was wondering if this view is also available for project managers or administrators? I'd like to use that view for a single user to view the assigned tasks.

  • This is true, it is only for a single project.  There is no OOTB soln for a calendar view for a single/multiple resources across multiple projects or all assignments.  I spent some time last year looing for such a soln for a client - none exists and the client didn't want to pay for a developed soln.

  • What version of Project Server are you using?

  • Hi - no problem.

What you are trying to achieve is not possible out of the box - sorry.

What about creating a report via SQL or OLAP, does this not help?

  • Euhh, yeah that would be a solution of course. But since all the necessary components are there, I'm kinda surprised that this isn't an options ootb. Would be a nice thing to have and not that hard to acheive with the existing webpart. The only thing that should be added is a parameter to select the correct user.

  • I couldn't get when you say "if this view is also available for project managers or administrators? I'd like to use that view for a single user to view the assigned tasks"

and to your point "if this view is also available for project managers or administrators" Yes this is universal view and is available for both PM / Admins

"I'd like to use that view for a single user to view the assigned tasks" - what do you mena by single user ? evry user in PWA can see his or her assignments in Calendar View, am i missing something here ?

Other alternative you may want to explore - Synchronizing task with outlook, perhaps that might give you another view

  • I want to use this view to view the assigments of my team members. Now I can only see my own assignments.

  • this type of view is available in Project (as oppose to PWA), and it can be filtered by resource..., this might be an option for you (as you need it for Project Managers).  It's called a calendar view.

  • You mean the client? Where exactly can I find that view?

  • Hi, yes, in the client.  It is available via multiple routes, but perhaps the best is...

Select the View Tab in the ribbon.  Within Other Views, select More views, and then select calendar.  The View tab also lets you then use the filter called Using Resource...  which will allow you to select a single resource.

    Simples:)

  • Hi Siegmund,

Ben's answer is probably the best "out of the box" answer. I know what you would like and yes it owuld be great to have this in PWA, but unfortunately that is not the case. You can develop this functionality, but this will require good knowledge of the development environment, or you could use the Project Client. The other alternative is of course to utilise the OLAP cubes and generate your own report, but it will not be in a "Calender" format.

    Hope this helps

  • I've checked, but isn't this view only for the current project opened in the client, and not an overall view for all projects?
