Remove Field Lock Icon at run-time RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a large section of fields that are read-only, and as such at run-time CRM displays a lock icon to indicate these fields are non-editable. The only problem is, due to the large number of fields, the padlock icons has drawn some negative comments, so I'm looking for a solution to selectively remove these where I deem them unnecessary.

    Using the F12 devtools, I can locate the SPAN that contains them and I can change the style.display from 'block' to 'none', in order to remove them.

    However, I've not been able to get this trick to work via javascript, even though I'm using the same properties. The location and syntax for the lock icons is:

    parent.document.getElementById("new_month1_lock").style.display = "none";

    or

    var x = parent.document.getElementById("new_month1_lock");
    x.style.display = "none";

    Never of these are working at run-time... what am I doing wrong?

    PS. I know its unsupported but needs must ;-)

    Steve
