  • Sounds like it may be a malware problem?

    Start with running MBAM...

Please download and install  Malwarebytes Anti-malware (free version) from  http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ - UNtick 'Enable free trial of MBAM Premium' at the end of the installation -  and update it, then run a full scan  in your main account, and Quick scans in any other user accounts.

    Quarantine everything it finds

Then post a new MGADiag report.

  • Update: chkdsk and sfc come back clean after running them now. First sfc found issue with dnsapi.dll and repaired it, but Norton AV detected a Trojan.mentono and cleaned it before the reboot to repair the dnsapi.dll file. Current status now same as originally posted, after several reboots, not genuine error 7601, clean sfc, no AV threats
