  • I am able to go to the MSN live site and reset- and it recognizes me... that is why this is so odd.   I have years of archives I am unable to get into ... a bit panicky.

  • Copy your *.mny and *.mbf files to other media in case something bad happens.

Disconnect from the Internet.  Pull your ethernet cable or turn off your modem -- whatever it takes.  Start Money, click below the password field to select "I want to sign in to Money directly, without access to all online services." then click Next. You tried to change your LiveID, but you must use the credentials that were in effect at the time that you saved that Money file.

If you cannot get in, restore your most recent or second-most-recent backup.

If you get into your file, and if you are using Money 2006 or later, remove your LiveID.  If you make it into your file, go to File-PasswordManager, and choose to remove your LiveID.  To remove or add a conventional password, also see File->PasswordManager.

  • I tried to do what you mentioned- I saw it on another thread... but it still is requiring a password and such, and the old one is not working either.... any other suggestions?

    It's a liveID password on Windows 8.

I never got to the option to remove the ID.

  • How about the "If you cannot get in, restore your most recent or second-most-recent backup." thing?

  • You can reinstall Money. The second thread in this forum can get you an install file appropriate to your country.

You will need to use the email address and password that were in effect when you saved your Money file.

I suggest you write down each email address you might have used. Then write
down all of the email addresses you might have used. Think of permutations.
Keep paper and pencil by your bed in case you think of something to try.
Think of all of the places that you may have written down your credentials.
Even the passwords for other applications may be useful, since many people
will use similar passwords for different applications.

You must tick the "I want to sign in to Money directly, without
access to all online services.  " To get that choice, ou may have
to disconnect from the Internet.  Start Money, and try to log in
offline.  Try all of the permutations you can think of.  Write down
what worked.  We did have one poster succeed in remembering the
    credentials.

  • Whats odd it that the password reset site accepts both credentials. I also noticed I am unable to send email from my iPhone since this all happened... not sure if it's related.

Thanks so much for your help and support.

    Iphone email is unrelated.

The connection between Money and the Microsoft ID / Live ID / Passport system was broken. The Money program tries. You need to get to the work-offline, and try the possibilities. Good luck. People get by with cached credentials for a while, but when Money asks at some point, you have to have the old credentials.
