Live Messenger Log on blocked RRS feed

  • Question

  •

The Live OneCare program blocks my log-in to Windows Live Messenger 8.5 even though I've followed the steps to allow it in the firewall advanced options. Any suggestions much appreciated...

    Thanks,

    Sally

  • If you have already added the application in the advanced settings and it still did not worked.

Verify if another instance of the application is listed, you should remove its copy.

Or you can open advanced settings in firewall and restore default to rebuild the setting.

You can also contact support for furher help regarding this.

  • Thanks for the reply Wenskie,

I restored the defaults and still can't sign in.

Also checked and there's no duplicates of Messenger in the application list.

I've emailed support but any other suggestions?....anyone?

    Thanks!

  • sallyh75,

Thank you for visiting the OneCare forum for Firewall issues.

Yes that does seem odd. Installing OneCare should not affect Messenger as I have both on my machine and OneCare  has not blocked my Messenger.

You can also visit the following website for Messenger support:

    I hope this helps,

Did you get your Messenger working? I was wondering if you have chat programs blocked on parental controls or Family Safety. I did this to myself a few years ago ... forgot I had blocked chat/IRQ and then, many months later, decided to try Windows Live Messenger. I didn't work ... (g) ... just as I had commanded.

Just wondering if your problem has resolved ... berry
