You are true, you need to install the Email router that can be installed anywhere... except if you need some advanced features. In this case, you will need to install it on Exchange server or a server with MAPI components.
Nothing to install on the client computer.
You just need to configure the email router and each user profile to use this router.

An Email Router for CRM needs to be installed and configured to send and receive emails for CRM web client.
You can download e-mail router readme from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=C54B428B-3565-4037-B4F3-C553F3288C45&displaylang=en

It's been long since your thread is running. Let us try and resolve this. There could be many reasons for not able to send e-mail messages.
1. Your E-mail Router configuration could be wrong (SSL connection uses a different network port.) Your first log points to this. Server does not support secure connections.
2. There could be firewall blocking your e-mails from sending.
3. The recepient e-mail address could be wrong. Your second log points to this. Recepient e-mail address is wrong.
4. The e-mail's are not sent immediately when you click on Send. It might take couple of minutes before the e-mail is submitted for delivery.
Any other logs about E-mail Router error can give us more idea.
Configuring and using E-mail router with POP3 and SMTP is not tough. You must look at something specific with your environment.

I've tried to set the email router up for outgoing emails and the test was a sucess
Outgoing Status: Succeeded
I've pulished it and still cannot send emails from CRM web client , i've also added a queue
when i try to send an email i get the message that the message hasnt been submitted for delivery yet - shouldnt this happen automatically ?

Did you validated that each user account is defined with Email router as outgoing method?

Yes i created one user in ER for outgoing and this is also the user that i log into crm with
is there a function that you need to activate in order to have the emails sent out ?

Nop, you just need to configure the email router.
When you retrieve CRM data in the email router configuration, you should see your user account.
When the test succeed, then you must publish the configuration (a button on the bottom right of the configuration window) and it should work...

HI
The email router seems to be setup correctly, the test i make from there going through without problems
I've turned off the firewall, checked the mail adress and it is correct , I am able to send emails to internal email adresses however when i try to send it to a external e.g. gmail account the mail doesnt go through
So i guess the problem now is on the SMTP server , but that is fairly simple to setup and i cannot see where the error should be

Hi
Seems like the problem is on the exchange server, the router is correct since i am able to send mails internally, so i will check the exchange server setup
