Another windows 7 not genuine issue

Question
-
Hello and thanks for reading this thread.
I have just received a warning and screens saying my windows 7 is not a genuine copy. I purchased the copy with the computer and it has worked fine for over a year. Now my screen is black and the bottom right corner says " Windows7 Build 7601, This copy of windows is not genuine". I have read similiar issues on the forums and created my own thread as per instructions.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

you are using an asus OEM SLP key on a retail motherboard. that simply won't work.
you need to purchase a new license and change your product key to the new one.
What is the "true harm" of not running a genuine labeled version?
you will get a periodic black screen with not genuine notices. you will only get critical windows updates and you will be unable to use any of the free Microsoft programs such as Microsoft Security Essentials
.OEM SLP: This key comes pre-installed in Windows, when it comes from the Factory. This key is geared to work with the special instructions found only on that Manufacturer's computer hardware. So when Windows was installed using the OEM SLP key (at the factory) Windows 7 looks at the motherboard and sees the special instructions and Self-Activates

EDIT: i did switch my hard drive over to an entire new system, it worked fine for a few weeks since until tonight. I just read the other post saying the new motherboard may be my issue.
2 questions: What is the "true harm" of not running a genuine labeled version? (I placed true harm in quotes since it is a legit copy it is just not working with the motherboard)
Also, do i need to spend more money on another version? (i do have an extra i have been saving but i was not trying to use that on this computer)
Sorry for the edit.

The cost of support is a major component in the price of Windows. The problem is that the OEM only paid a royalty (pennies on the dollar) for the copy of Windows he preinstalled on his computer. Since Microsoft received very little money for it compared to a retail copy Microsoft did not receive enough money to fund support. In order to get the royalty price the OEM agreed to provide that support instead. The OEM cannot be expected to provide support on a competitor's equipment so an OEM SLP licence is only valid on the OEM's motherboard. When you purchase Windows preinstalled on a new computer the OEM motherboard owns the license. When you purchase a copy of Windows at retail you own the license. That is why you can transfer a retail license to a new motherboard but you can't transfer an OEM copy.
You can use a retail license that you own for this computer provided that it is not an upgrade copy and it is not in use on any other computer. If you purchase a new license it needs to be a full license copy. An upgrade copy requires a genuine copy of Windows on the computer to upgrade from.
