  • Minimum hardware requirements are in the documentation:

    Requirement

    Minimum Requirement

    Recommended

    CPU

    1 GHz Pentium 3 (or equivalent) or higher

    Pentium 4, AMD x64, or newer processor

    RAM

    512 MB or more

    Same as the minimum

    Hard Drive

    80 GB (or more) internal (ATA, SATA, or SCSI) hard drive as the primary drive and any number of additional hard drives of any capacity

    Note

    The largest hard drive should be configured as the primary (system) hard drive.

    At least two internal hard drives with a 300 GB or greater primary (system) hard drive.

    Network Interface Card

    100 Mbps (or faster) Ethernet network interface card from the Windows Server Catalog (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/catalog/server)

    Same as the minimum

  • My  machine is 1.5 Centrino ,512 + 256 MB ram & 40 GB hdd. Will work ?

    - How much GB space WHS beta 2 need for installation ?

  • You need to upgrade your disk. Although B2 could work with 40Gb, RC1 will not. Also 40Gb is not very large for central storage..

     

    The rest is ok. Depends a little bit if the hardware is on the compatibility list..

     

    In B2 the system drive will be 10Gb and the rest will be for storage. In RC1 the system drive went to 20Gb rest for storage, but multiple complaints where made on the forum it will not install on 40Gb disks anymore. As stated in the minimym requirements, 80GB for system drive is minimum..

  • You might be able to install it if you have a USB hard disk bigger than 80gb and your computer supports booting from a USB drive.  I assume its a laptop your using, 2.5" drives are pretty cheap these days so you might be aswell upgrading to a 120 or 160gb

  • In the Windows Home Server RC - Getting Started Guide.pdf it says that laptops are not supported.
