Created Dashboard Page with Excel but data does not Auto refresh

I created an excel spreadsheet with and ODC connector which when opened the data is refreshed. I was hoping that when I created a Sharepoint page that included the spreadsheet grid, the data would auto refresh when viewed but it does not.

How do I configure the grid to refresh when viewed in Sharepoint? I see the refresh button but it only refreshes the pivot tables not the data behind the worksheet behind the table.

What is your data source for the spreadsheet?

There is a peculiarity of Excel Services that will stop it refreshing if your data source is a SharePoint list. To get around this you need to implement Excel Services managed code UDF's (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/luisbeonservices/archive/2006/09/28/consuming-sharepoint-lists-in-excel-services.aspx)

Strange, is this with Excel Service 2010? Have you turned out caching? Is the data updated in the DB? If you update the pivot table direcly in Excel does the data get updated?
