Link contact phone number to calendar entry

  I'm trying to make life easier for myself when I make a calendar entry to call a phone number or send an email to a person in my Contacts.  Is there any way to link my contact's phone number or email address to the calendar entry?  If this is not possible then maybe it can be a suggestion!!!  There should be a permanent field below Subject field called "Phone Number Link" and, for that matter, one below that called "email Link".  Press one of these fields, my Contacts opens up: I can search for my contact and link either his or her phone number or email address to my Calendar entry.  When my calendar entry falls due I just press the phone number field to dial the number or press the email field to start an email.
