Moved posts "locking" browser RRS feed

  • Question

  • This has happened to me two days in a row, now, so I figure it's more than just a temporary "glitch" with IE7...

Before I move a post, I usually give an answer to the OP about why the post doesn't belong in the forum, and provide any tips I can to help solve the issue. I usually do this in a "Tab" within the same IE7 window where one tab (the "main" one) is the forum listing.

After the reply is submitted, the post appears at the top of the main listing, highlighted in mustard yellow - but I don't see that, yet.

I'm still in the message tab window, where I use the "Move" tool to move the message to another forum. That works. The full forum listing appears in that tab window. At that point, I close that tab window and move on to my next message.

I can use the "Reply" tool on any message in any other tab window, but when I click Submit all I get is the circle (hourglass) running until that times out. A message box then appears with no message text, the caption says the message box belongs to Windows Internet Explorer. When I close that, I'm back where I started before clicking Submit. I don't lose the reply, but I can't submit it. If I try to update the main forum listing window it also cannot finish and eventually shows the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" page.

I'm not sure whether the bug here is in IE7 or in the forum interface, or a combination of the two. But it's annoying and time-consuming.

  • What you describe sounds like two different problems, striking at the same time.  I've seen your problem with the reply several times this week.  It happens when the login cookie expires.  Open another tab and navigate to the main page to check login status and to log back in.

  • Mmmm. If the main page doesn't refresh I can't see the logged in status, nor log back in.

And it would surprise me if the log-in has expired in less than two hours since I logged in originally?

I very much doubt that this is the problem.

  • Cannot repro. Should be fixed now. Reply if you can repro this.

    Thanks!
