Remote connected or not remote connected with Acer WHS? RRS feed

  • Question

  • XP MCE SP3 and Acer Easy Store H340, WHS w PP3

    Windows Home Server Console: 6.0.2423.0
Windows Home Server Backup & Restore: 6.0.2423.0
Windows Home Server Drive Extender: 6.0.2423.0
Windows Home Server Remote Access: 6.0.2423.0
Windows Home Server Storage Manager: 6.0.2423.0

I'm using a *.msn.com account I've had for years for remote access to *.homeserver.com.

I log onto the website successfully.

This works fine for folder access, lights out but not for some configuration settings (i.e. add-ons).  No add-ons are listed as installed, although McAffee's factory installed.

My Linksys BEFSX4 router has been set up for remote connection.  The diagnostic fails on the final step, cannot verify the website is available from the internet.

Ports 80 and 443 report open but not port 4125.

I cannot reach the Acer WHS from Remote Desktop Connection.  It finds, "no terminal servers" on my network.

So why am I thus restricted?

    Thanks in advance

That's normal for that add-in on the Acer model.  Any add-ins you install should show up as installed.

Your ISP might be blocking that port (or if you're trying from work, they might have that port blocked as well).  Did you try from a friend's house/public coffee shop?  If you go to Shields Up!, what is the status of port 4125?
