Microsoft Vista Money Software Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I originally owned the software "Manage Your Money" Ver 2.1 and tried importing it to the new Vista OS. and REcieved a incompatible software mesage so I went to Microsoft and searched for a comparable software package whick brought me to the Microsoft Money Plus Home and Business Trial Download which I installed but it asked for activation. So I went to the activation Link where it informs me that I need a key purchased before June of 2009. I didn't purchase the Hardware before August 2009 and didn't need a key until I got Vista. Can anyone help me get my Checking Software working either my original MYM 2.1 or the new MsMoney+H&B? Either that or recommend an inexpensive alternative Software? I tried Quicken to No luck, Is there anything else?

  • Hi Tploy,

Unfortunatly, I don't have much experience with that type of software, so I don't know what's good.  You may try asking the question in one of the Vista Answer Forums (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windowsvista). There are a number of MVP (Very smart people that don't work for Microsoft, but help out when someone has a problem with Microsoft software) that should be able to recommend a good replacment for MYM and/or MS Money.

Sorry I couldn't be more help,

  • Hello Tploy,

I'm not sure if this is the same program, but I found an FAQ for "Manage your Money" http://www.starkeysoftware.com/MYM/ and there is a part that describes how to install it on Vista.

As for Microsoft Money, it is no longer available for purchase (you can find additional information regarding the discontinuation of Microsoft Money at http://www.microsoft.com/money/default.mspx)

Microsoft doesn't currently have any plans to release a replacment to Microsoft Money and unfortunately, due to policy, I am unable to recommend any 3rd party alternatives.  You may try asking the question in one of the Vista Answer Forums (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windowsvista). There are a number of MVP (Very smart people that don't work for Microsoft, but help out when someone has a problem with Microsoft software) that could help you try to get MYM to work on Vista or surely be able to recommend a good replacment for MYM and MS Money.

Good luck and sorry I couldn't be more help,

  • The link you provided did asssist in locating some information regarding the program MYM but unfortunately the version of VISTA they asre describing is a Hardware Emulation solution for VISTA and unfortunately My new Hardware is not of the variety compatable with the solution they are offering, So I am still looking for another solution I can work with. Any further assistance is still greatly appreciated!!!!!
