I've recently installed One Care on a second PC in the office. When I open it to do a scan it opens partially but does not respond. It will not check in and update.
It is possible that you have a conflict from prior or still installed security software on the PC or a bad OneCare install of the program or supporting services/programs. As for not being able to check in and update, that could certainly be related to the fact that you cannot actually open OneCare before it crashes the program.
