Windows 7 Pro - Product Key invalid for Activation

    Question

  • Greetings everyone,

    First i would like to say that i made all steps related to slui (renaming token, etc) but still no luck. Reading forums i discovered my Key is a 'COA SLP key - which should only ever be used on the one PC that it came installed on' (Said by Noel D Paton at http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinewindows7/thread/d3e56b0f-b641-4762-a42d-5083a1671026 )

    So, i'll tell my 'history' and you tell me if i'm wrong. Sorry for the big post:

    I bought a HP Pavilion two months ago and it came with Windows 7 Professional 64 Bits. The windows came full of cr*p HP programs, plus 2 useless partitions and the Windows partition with all HD space on it. Since i always make windows partition only for windows and common programs (games, musics, etc are in the secondary partition for security), i felt uncomfortable with that. I tried split but Windows 7 only let me split half size (245GB/245GB)

    Two week ago i kicked the energy plug by mistake while windows was booting and when i turned on again, windows would not boot (BSoD before showing the 'loading windows' screen. Tried with security mode pressing F8 but it crashed as well). As it was asking for recovery cd, i used the HP recovery DVD. The prompt said would restore the windows partition and i was relieved since my work was at 2nd partition.

    WRONG. It formatted all my HDD and put back in the 'factory default'. I tried recover my 200GB but was useless, most of my work got overwritten by pagefile.sys.. Windows installed again with those HP programs nobody uses... Angry with all this and this bad recovery dvd, i went in the first torrent website and downloaded an untouched .ISO of Win 7 Pro x64. 'What could be wrong in doing that?' - i though. I have a sticker with an original Valid Key stuck in my notebook's back.

    So i've installed happily because i formatted everything again, split my HDD like i wanted (100GB windows, 400GB second partition) and i used my valid key to install.

    Everything fine until yesterday started prompting me saying my license is not valid for activation. Tried picking the 'type another key'. As stated above, tried the solution with slui but no luck. I'll try the telephone method but i think it's something with the d*rn ISO i got. I got an English one and installed the pt-br lang pack but maybe my license works only in a native pt-br version (the one it came with).  The sticker comes with (/ as line breaks): 'Windows 7 Pro OA LATAM / Hewllet Packard Company / KEY HERE'

    So my questions are:

    I have a valid license. Just don't want to use the recovery dvd provided by HP. What can i make to install my original windows? I don't have money to buy a new license and i don't want to, since i got my own.

    I really wanted to be fair and use original stuff. Don't want to use key gen or anything like that. Is there a way to activate like it is today?

    Here is the stuff from MGADiag.exe. Nevermind the Office key, it's not valid. I'll use it until my Student version arrives.

  • In order to use your Windows 7 Professional license, you'll need a generic Windows 7 Professional OEM DVD.  The only way to obtain one is to purchase one.  Example: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.  Attempting to obtain a DVD via Torrents is illegal software piracy.  Most are loaded with embedded malware/spyware designed to steal your personal info.

    In my view, CD, DVD, ISO or download is only the media type. What will determine whether i'm allowed to install the software is the license i have, no? I got license, just do not have the installation software.

    Well, in short terms:

    -I buy a new Windows even when i have a license;
    or
    -Get stuck in the awful HP recover dvd;

    Is that correct?

    And about the walware, i really dont mind at all if for some reason the one i got have any of those. I use my notebook mostly for gaming.
