  • When you go to  www.microsoft.com/genuine and go through the sequence after clicking "Validate Windows" you should get a webpage that tells you why you are detected as not genuine.  There will be an error code (something like [0xC0040000]) at the end of the message.  If you post that here we will know what to do next.

I think that you might be failing validation because you are actually not yet activated.

You should either be activating with a KMS or a MAK.  You can ask your IT manager about which you should use.  If your IT manager has given you a key (a MAK) to use, please go to your System Properties panel (right-click on Computer in the start menu and choose the last option) and click on "Change product key", then enter your key and click "Next".  Once you do you should be activated and you can go back to  www.microsoft.com/genuine and click "Validate Windows".  Then you will be able to download things from Microsoft.

You can access more volume activation information here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/windowsvista/plan/volact.mspx

    Merci!

  • Activating the program to run on your computer and activating your program with microsoft is two seperate processes. Although you have succesfully installed the program on your machine, more than likely the issue is that your copy of windows has already been registered and validated with Microsoft. If you did not purchase your copy from a retail store or shopping center, you probally have a duplicate or previously used copy........

Please post the results of the WGA diagnostics tool (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012) .  Then I can help you troubleshoot why you're being detected as non-genuine.

    Thank you!

  • What do you want me to copy you from this software ?

  • Once you run it, there will be a button in the bottom right corner that says "Continue".  Once you click "Continue", the next tab will have "Copy" in the same place the continue button was before.  If you click the "Copy" button you can then paste (Ctrl + V) the information in a reply here.  Thanks!
