total loss of system RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently added a few progams to my perfectly functioning PC, (Roxio media suite was the largest of these).   I rebooted my system and after a very long boot up period I logged in as usaual and I recieved the message.
"This computer's hardware has changed a lot recently and you have to revalidate"
When I press ok and then nothing happens the system just hangs I see the desktop picture and nothing else I have no accesss to my system ie start or programs or the internet.
I have tried saying no on the revalidation box and the exact same thing happens.
I have read a lot fo the advice but as I can't access my system I can not think of anything other tahn doing a Windows XP repair Re/install.
    Help any ideas

  • Hello Hopscoth,

The purpose of these Forums is to support Windows Genuine Advantage. The issue you are experiencing is Product Activation related (or possible a deeper issue with Windows itself).

If you have rebooted a few times and the computer keeps freezing, my suggestion would be to either:

    1) Do a repair/recovery using the recovery CD that came with the computer or if the Windows was bought separate from the computer, do a clean install.
    2) Go to http://support.microsoft.com/ph/1173 for additional Windows XP support options.

Sorry I couldn't be more help,
