IFD on SBS 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have succesfully configured IFD in the past - this will be the first time doing so on a SBS 2008 server with Remote Web Workplace configured. Is there anything I need to configure differently in this environment? Does anyone have experience with IFD in a SBS 2008 environment?

    Thanks

  • You have two options.  You can obtain a wild card ssl cert *.domain.com so it can be used for both your remote connection and crm.  OR you can obtain another name specific ssl cert for crm.domain.com.  In either case you will need another public facing ip address unless you run remote.domain.com in a different port.

  • Yep.  That would work too.  However, the one minor issue is that if you use the mobile express some phones do not work well when running an https web site on a non standard port.  Some block this.

  • Hi Jenks,

Nothing intrinsically different.  The only items to watch out for is your windows firewall is probably already turned on, so needs configuring.  And depending on the configuration sharepoint or something else may already be listening on port 80 for http traffic so crm internally would need to stay on port 5555 or something else.

  • Thanks Alex.

What about SSL? If RWW is already configured, and we have a godaddy cert for remote.domain.com, what is the bast way to handle IFD? Do I get a new cert for crm.domain.com or ...?

    Thank you

  • I really appreciate the feedback, Alex.

Couldn't I use a different port for IFD? Seems like that would be easier than changing all the RWW stuff.
