USB Autoplay diagnostic tool MicrosoftFixit 50475 reports problem but can't fix it. RRS feed

  • Question

  • My Windows XP Autoplay hasn’t worked on the PC for years, so you could imagine how glad I was when I came across the MicrosoftFixit 50475 tool.

Unfortunately my excitement was short lived.

As it turns out, the Fixit tool found a problem but reported that it could not identify the problem nor could it fix it.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t that make the repair tool useless?

I’d like to know if Microsoft released an actual fix tool or fixed the fix tool!!!

Problem: Plug in USB device, (audible chime for device detected), wait 15 seconds and the device appears in My Computer, no Autoplay.

The USB device(s) are Kingston USB memory sticks 8GB, 16GB and 32GB in size.
