Trying to reinstall CRM 3.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Let me first say that I dont use CRM and probably am the least qualified to do the installation for it.

Ok we are trying to upgrade to 4.0. our server setup is different now too, so i thought i needed to try to reinstall CRM 3.0 for it to point to the right servers.

I backed up METABASE and <company name>_MSCRM databases before attempting this. Finally i was able to re-install CRM with the configuration:

    server A = CRM, server b = SRS + SQL Server

I restored the databases, but I think i am missing something. When i go to http:// <server name>::5555/ It tries to load but results in a general error.

My boss informed me that there were customizations done. Now, where would I find these customizations and how do I import them into CRM? And do you think not having the customizations imported WITH our databases is causing an error??

  • you can only do upgrade, if you want data and customization should be upgradated.

For other reason, I suggest do fresh install,  for uninstall of MS CRM 3.0 you have to remove entries from registry as well.

  • I did a fresh reinstall. Now when i go to (http://<server name>:5555), it actually connects but the databases i pointed to it are empty. The reason is because when i try to "Connect to existing databases..." and point it to my real databases it says "There are no CRM databses on that server".

So basically what im asking is, how do I make a fresh install actually work with my existing databases?

p.s. there are customizations done to the databases, which is probably why it says they dont exist
