Communicator R2 shows "Limited External Calling" - no voice configured RRS feed

  • Hi,

    We are getting the limited external calling exclamation mark on all communicator users, but we dont want to use any external voice, and the edge server implememted is there purely for remote access for IM use only, the AV/Web Conferencing bits are all disabled

    Is there a way of disabling this message from being displayed? As expected, there wont be any external calling (it's also blocked on the firewall)

  • Do you have your Edge server assigned in the A/V Properties of the Front-End? If you remove the A/V Edge from being associated with the pool you should stop seeing that error. If you're not going to use the A/V Edge role you might want to remove it from being listed as an A/V Edge server in your global forest properties. It's probably listed on the Edge Servers tab.

  • I had the problem as well. Make sure you reconfigure your A/V cert and assign it to "Edge Server Private Interface" and "A/V Authentication Certificate"

    You can also get this error if some SIP domains defined on your global OCS properties are missing on the Edge configuration.
