Project Server 2010 Hardware Requirements

Question
-
Hello everyone
I was looking at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee683978.aspx where the minimum hardware requirements are explained. But I am not sure what "small deployment" and "medium deployment" means.
Does that mean number of users, number of projects or what? And also what is the concrete number of users or projects for lets say medium deployment?
Thanks

Hello,
Please check Christophe's nice article which has a lot of info on project server capacity planning :
Basic info:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff646967.aspx
You can also check the performance lab with metrics;

Does that help? Thanks, Amit Khare |EPM Consultant| Blog: http://amitkhare82.blogspot.com http://www.linkedin.com/in/amitkhare82- Marked as answer by Gary Chefetz, MCITP, MCT, MVP Monday, June 6, 2011 6:03 PM

The most important factors in determining the size of an environment are, indeed, the number of users and projects. See this for more details: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff686784.aspx (page 7 in the word document available there)

HI There,
Besides what have been mentioned there are quite a few factors to keep in mind when spec-ing the server. The amount of Project Pro , PWA and SharePoint users need to be concidered. The amount of schedules that would be saved and managed on the server needs to be concidered. WHats the amount of documentation that will be uploaded into each project workspace
So there is really allot to be concidered, especially from the SQL point of view and the storage Requirements. Performance of SQL is of utmost performance, and need to make sure that in a VM Environment that disks are still Physical and not logical as that could have a severe impact on the SQL Server's Performance
