i MUST BE BRAIN DEAD.... I CANNOT GET IT TO WORK.  I do not know the string to insert when I am the command prompt.... as I am not sure how to label WGA services, etc.  I still don't know what services are causing the issues.

Don’t worry about it – it’s a bit of a mouthful at first anyhow :)

    Try this
    Click on Start
    in the Search box, type
    Services.msc
    and hit the Enter key
the Services snap-in will come up (you will need to confirm the UAC prompt)

look for the Windows Search entry there

Your report shows a very high number of file mismatches – which almost certainly means that either there is major file corruption or that the Licensing Store is corrupt.

Please try the below steps to recreate the Store files. This may resolve the issue.

    1) Open an Internet Browser window.
    2) Type: %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar.
    3) Find the file CMD.exe
    4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'
    5) Type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes - or it may say that it's not running - this is OK)
    6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
    7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    8) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    9) Type: net start slsvc
    10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)

    Reboot TWICE
If necessary, then you may be required to enter the Product Key and/or Activate.

    Reboot

Once complete, please post back with a new MGADiag report

    No change :(
OK – let’s check some of the services involved, then

The most likely services to be affected are the Cryptographic ones

please open an Elevated Command Prompt window (Start > Accessories – right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator)

    At the prompt type
    SC QUERYEX CRYPTSVC

Copy the result to your response here (click on the black/white icon top left, and select Edit>Select all, and hit the Enter key – then paste in to your response)

(that’s OK – happens a lot to me, too!)

That seems to be OK – so now it’s going to have to be guesswork :)

Open Event Viewer and see if there are any failed services mentioned since the last boot (in the Windows System Logs) by using the Filter Current Log option (place ticks in Critical, Error, and Warning, and Service Control Manager as the event source)

OK – now open each event and list the exact details of the Service involved in each – Click on the Details tab, then on the XML View button, and then in the displayed data, hit CTRL+C to copy the text into your response.

I don’t think these results are relevant to your WGA problem – but it can’t hurt to fix them anyhow :)
    and
gives some stuff about the error – and how to fix it (at least in theory<g>)

The default settings in Recovery are
    First Failure = Restart
    Second Failure = Restart
    Subsequent = Take No Action
    Reset after 1 day
    Restart after 0 minutes
Enable actions for stops with errors (ticked)

  • i MUST BE BRAIN DEAD.... I CANNOT GET IT TO WORK.  I do not know the string to insert when I am the command prompt.... as I am not sure how to label WGA services, etc.  I still don't know what services are causing the issues.

Don’t worry about it – it’s a bit of a mouthful at first anyhow :)

    Try this
    Click on Start
    in the Search box, type
    Services.msc
    and hit the Enter key
the Services snap-in will come up (you will need to confirm the UAC prompt)

look for the Windows Search entry there
