Connect visual studio 2017 to a remote kubernetes cluster or remote docker host! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is there a way to connect Visual Studio to a remote kubernetes cluster or a remote docker host?

Maybe in some form like the Azure Dev Spaces.

    The case.
I would like to build/run and debug containers remotely on a remote docker host or a remote kubernetes cluster.
    Both hosted on premise.

Is this possible to achieve? Can someone shed some light on this matter?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Kind regards,

    JP

    Welcome to the MSDN forum.

According to your description, I suppose this issue more relates to the TFS and our forum is to discuss the VS installation issues.

Could you please share a detail example? That will help us analysis the issue scope and thanks for your understanding.

  • Hi Sara,

    Thank you for your reply.

No this is more the installation of a Visual Studio 2017 enterprise application.
The Visual Studio enterprise uses the Visual Studio container tools.

Is it possible to connect the Visual Studio container tools to a remote docker host?
Now the default is it will look at a local docker installation instead of finding the one the remote host.
Even when setting it on the system itself that the Docker host is a remote system.

It might be im asking my question in the wrong forum, if so please let me.

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards,

    JP
